The Çumra Irrigation System in the Konya Plain, with a net irrigated area of 59,560 hectares, was largely constructed as an earth canal by the Ottoman Empire between 1907 and 1913 and commissioned on 31 December 1913. Due to the inherent nature of these canals, water loss and leakage rates have been quite high, and in addition, because of the geological structure of the land, sinkholes and collapses (known as obruk and düden) have increasingly caused additional water losses over the years.

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality established a glass greenhouse of approximately 400 m² within the Konya Science Center. With the aim of evaluating this greenhouse, it was decided to research the use of our Hydrogen Combi Systems, which we produce and export using local and national resources, in greenhouses with the support of GES, to calculate costs, and to implement a pilot greenhouse application. Within the scope of the project, the glass greenhouse has been equipped with a HID+GES+RES heating system.

Through this project, the objectives are to utilize pivot irrigation—a novel method in agricultural irrigation systems—in research projects, to reduce irrigation costs over large areas, to decrease labor expenses, to ensure uniform irrigation, and to deliver water directly and effectively to the root zones of plants.
