The “Nasreddin Hoca World Humor Village Project” was carried out in Akşehir district, which possesses regional cultural heritage and values associated with the image of Nasreddin Hoca, in collaboration with the Akşehir Municipality.

Due to its location at the foothills of the Sultan Mountains, residents of the Akşehir District strive to sustain their livelihoods through very small-scale agricultural and livestock operations.

Due to the majority of agricultural lands being arid and the low annual precipitation level, approximately 40% of cultivated agricultural areas are dedicated to the production of pulses such as chickpeas, lentils, and beans.

Through this project, the aims are to promote the widespread adoption of high-value-added products such as cultivated mushrooms in Doğanhisar district, support rural development, increase the income level and quality of life of the local population, contribute to regional rural development, and foster the growth of the national economy.

The project basin, which includes Güneysınır District of Konya Province, consists of marginal lands that cannot be irrigated and have no irrigation potential, making it a region experiencing continuous migration. Medicinal and aromatic plants are of great importance for utilizing unirrigated, arid, unproductive, and idle lands in rural areas. Through this project, the aims are to extract oil from the lavender produced by farmers in Güneysınır district, thereby improving quality, increasing income and welfare levels, and bringing marginal lands into agricultural use.

A significant portion of animal slaughter in the region still takes place in small and primitive slaughterhouses, with meat and meat products often being produced under conditions that are not hygienically or technologically adequate. Small-scale operations lack cooling units, preventing carcass maturation, creating challenges in preserving internal organs, and resulting in the underutilization of by-products. Additionally, carcasses, hides, and internal organs are transported in unsuitable vehicles.
