The Geothermal Resource Assessment Project was completed in 2019 under the guidance of TÜBİTAK - Turkish Industry Management Institute. Within the scope of the project, an inventory of existing geothermal resources in the KOP Region was compiled, resource-based analyses were performed, and a geothermal energy roadmap was created by proposing a total of 73 actions in 13 areas across 4 different sectors (Health, Tourism, Agriculture, and Energy).
With the implementation of the project, a geothermal water storage and distribution reservoir, distribution line, and SCADA automation system for the geothermal production wells located in the Yerköy District Center of Yozgat, thereby contributing to the widespread use of geothermal resources in production processes and the development of innovative and hybrid applications for geothermal energy, with the aim of maximizing the use of geothermal energy resources and exploiting the relevant potential to the fullest extent.
The insulated pipelines to be constructed within the scope of the project, the 200 m³ hot water distribution and storage tank, and the adaptation of water from geothermal wells for new investments and facilities will minimize flow and heat losses, ensure a regular income by supplying geothermal water to facilities in a controlled and measurable manner, control of geothermal waters, and protection of the natural hydrogeology of geothermal wells.
Along with the effective use of geothermal energy resources in the district, it is aimed to contribute to the development of the district and regional economy and increase new employment opportunities by improving the investment environment for new entrepreneurs and increasing new investments in different sectors related to geothermal resources (residential heating, agriculture/food, health tourism, etc.).
As Yerköy District will have a stronger infrastructure in the field of geothermal energy, the district's promotional activities will also be more competitive and powerful. The project will also ensure the protection of natural resources and environmental health. The systematic storage and distribution of geothermal water obtained from wells will greatly contribute to the protection of geothermal resources.
The project is being carried out by the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry as the implementing organization, with the Yozgat Provincial Special Administration as a partner organization. The project budget is 7,500,000.00 TL, which has been fully covered by our Presidency.
The project commenced with a protocol signed on December 21, 2022, between KOP BKİ, the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Yozgat Provincial Special Administration.
On December 24, 2022, KOP BKİ transferred the entire 7,500,000 TL grant to the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
