The aim of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Needs Analysis Research Project is to identify the current situation and problems in the areas of industrialization, entrepreneurship, R&D, innovation, and university-industry cooperation. In this context, the aim is to identify the potential in the fields of industry, entrepreneurship, innovation, R&D, and university-industry cooperation in the provinces of the region, to produce solutions to address the problems encountered, and at the same time to develop strategies and roadmaps related to these and to develop measures for this purpose.
The subject of industry is the first and most important stage of the current situation analysis, both because it constitutes the basic economic activity in a region and because it forms the essential infrastructure for entrepreneurship and innovation activities. The scope of the Industry Current Situation Analysis includes: The study examined the development, structure, sectoral and spatial distribution, and clustering trends of industry in the KOP Region. It also identified the strengths and weaknesses of industry in the provinces of the region, determined the opportunities and threats facing industry, analyzed legal practices and incentives and support provided for investments in industry, and evaluated scientific and institutional studies conducted on industry. In this context, the study first examined the state of industry in the KOP Region and revealed the region's industrial potential and capacity, as well as its industrialization performance in recent years, through various indicators. In this section, the current state of industry in the KOP Region was analyzed from a quantitative perspective based on secondary statistical data and existing literature. Secondly, the study presents the current state of industry based on findings obtained from field research involving focus group meetings and semi-structured interviews. Here, a more actor-centered, qualitative scientific approach was adopted in the analysis of industry, analyzing the potential, problems, and relationships of industry in the region from the perspective of local actors. Thirdly, the incentives and support provided to the industry were analyzed. In this context, investment incentives provided to the industry in the KOP provinces, other financial and technical support affecting industrialization, and public investments in the region were presented using both statistical indicators and information and findings obtained from field research.
